Iowa State University’s large campus has many differing types of housing both on and off campus. The Richardson Court community is a series of stand alone buildings that were in need of repairs. The university needed to replace several deteriorating roof structures around the complex. Originally Birch Welch Roberts had a slate shingle roof with very little moisture protection. A master planning solution was reached with a series of replacement phases and the use of architectural asphalt shingles. The roof was completed within an accelerated construction schedule to assure that the buildings would be ready for the next school year.
