United Church of Christ - Congregational West Entrance Additon

Ames, Iowa

The UCC congregation is the oldest in Ames. Over a century old, this facility has been extensively renovated several times over the years. Issues over accessibility, unwelcoming street entrances and inadequate classroom, kitchen and fellowship spaces became the main focus of the master plan developed by Benjamin Design. We created presentation materials which included a scaled physical model, digital renderings and drawings for a capital campaign and provided a full scope of interior design services to complete the project. These materials served as our communication platform during meetings with the congregation in order to better develop a collaborative design solution.

The design solution resulted in a new accessible west entrance and elevator tower as well as new conference rooms under the classroom wing. The new addition visually ties into the exiting building and opens the entrance in a more inviting way to the street. The congregation is excited about their new addition and feel their building is ready for the next one hundred years.
