WHAT"S IN A NAME?

In June 1982, our first child, Benjamin Joseph, was born into this world. He came with little breath and little chance of survival. To the world's perception, he functioned as an infant the rest of his life.

Benjamin died at the age of nine, March 1, 1992. He never talked or laughed or smiled. He couldn't see. He seemed trapped in his little body. But Benjamin was able to affect people in ways we couldn't describe or understand. More than 300 people attended his funeral, many we didn't know. We heard over and over again how he had touched them.

We learned so much from that little boy who couldn't "respond." Benjamin taught us what was essential in life.People and community are essential. Family is essential. The person inside the body is essential.

When deciding on a name for our firm, we wanted to be reminded of our faith, our beliefs, and our dedication to the growth of this community. Our son's name is a symbol of how we want to live our lives. Benjamin touched so many people in positive ways during his short life. We want to do the same.
